Will it work on my Android device?

Ultrasonic: The Ultrasonic works with most Android devices. Please see compatibility page for tested phones and tablets.

Handheld: The handheld wind meters work with most Android devices please see the compatibility page for tested phones and tablets.

Can I use a Vaavud wind meter with an iPhone 4?

Ultrasonic: will not work with the Iphone 4.

Handheld: The latest (and future) releases of the app require iOS 8, which means that they will not work on an iPhone 4. However, you can download an older version of the app that works for the iPhone for using the following steps:

  1. Download the iTunes app to your Mac or PC.
  2. Log in to iTunes using the same Apple ID that you use on the phone.
  3. Find the Vaavud app in iTunes. You can search for Vaavud in iTunes or follow this link and click “Open in iTunes”:
  4. Click the Get button.
  5. Now you can go to the AppStore on your phone and download an older version.

How well are Mjolnir and Sleipnir supported on Android and iOS?

Ultrasonic: works with IOS 8, Android 4.4 and above. Handheld: works with IOS 8, Android 4.0 and above

Is there a Windows Phone app?

No, we do not have a Windows Phone app, and we are not planning on developing one in the near future. With limited resources, we are choosing to focus on developing the app for Android and iOS for the time being.

Does the app work with iPad and iPod Touch?

The apps work on iPad, but not iPod Touch.

Mjolnir needs the compass to determine the wind speed and Sleipnir uses the compass for getting the wind direction. Since the iPod Touch does not have a compass, we have disabled access to download the app from this device.

The large size of the iPad may affect the airflow and cause reduced accuracy.

Will the wind meters work with the new iPhone 7?

Ultrasonic: Yes.

The Mjolnir works with the iPhone 7 by holding it next to the phone.

To use your Sleipnir with an iPhone 7, you must open the app before you plug in the lightening connector. After the app is open, plug in the lightening connector, and then allow microphone access when prompted.
